Reduce slip-and-fall accidents outside your facility with this industrial snow-melting walkway mat from HeatTrak. Made of an electrically operated heating element sandwiched between two protective surfaces of reinforced SBR rubber, it's as durable as automobile tires and will endure harsh wear throughout the winter. This version plugs into a standard 120-volt electrical outlet and measures 24 inches wide by 5 feet long (this size is also available in a 240-volt version).

Ideal for use over existing entranceways, stairs, loading docks, handicap ramps, rooftops, and many other surfaces, the HeatTrak industrial walkway mat provides a clean and safe passageway for foot or wheelchair access. It continuously melts snow and ice--at a rate of 2 inches per hour--to keep surfaces constantly safe and clear. Designed to act as an entrance mat, the HeatTrak walkway mat features a continuous chevron pattern to provide extra traction as well as grommet holes that enable you to secure the mat in place.
This industrial walkway mat from HeatTrak comes with its own 120-volt power unit (with 6-foot cable), is sold as a single unit, and is backed by a 2-year limited warranty. HeatTrak industrial stair and walkway mats are available in multiple sizes in both 120- or 240-volt versions.
Safer, Cleaner Walkways
HeatTrak's heating mats are the best solution for winter slip prevention, as they continuously melt snow and ice keeping surfaces constantly clear. And HeatTrak industrial mats are designed with a continuous chevron pattern to provide extra traction.
Additionally, HeatTrak mats eliminate the need for salting entranceways, which can lead to messy floors indoors as calcium chloride gets tracked inside by foot traffic. HeatTrak mats also help preserve sidewalks, as calcium chloride will eat away at walkways over time.
Easily Portable, No Expensive Installations
With HeatTrak there is no need for expensive installations. HeatTrak mats are portable and designed to lie on top of existing surfaces. Just place a HeatTrak mat over existing entranceways, stairs, loading docks, handicap ramps, rooftops, and more to provide a clean and safe passageway for foot and wheelchair access.
Durable and Safe
The engineers at HeatTrak have taken great care to develop a durable, safe, and effective snow and ice melting system, which can be left outside for the entire winter season. HeatTrak mats are made of an electrically operated heating element that's sandwiched between two protective surfaces of non-slip rubber, making them as durable as automobile tires. HeatTrak's industrial mats plug directly into either 120- or 240-volt outlets using their own equipment leakage circuit interrupter (ELCI).

Using Your HeatTrak Industrial Mat
Because they're designed to be left outside all winter long, you can put your HeatTrak mats out before the winter starts and turn them on when you expect snow. For best results, turn on your HeatTrak mast at least 30 minutes before snowfall so that it melts snow on contact (turning on the mats after snowfall will take longer to melt). Then, keep the mats on a few hours after snow has stopped as you may have water runoff. The mats work effectively down to -5 degrees F and melt snow at approximately 2 inches per hour.
To operate the mats, you will need to go outside to turn them on via the power unit. To automatically control the mats from inside, you can purchase the optional wireless control outlet and switch (model HR-Wireless for 120-volt mats only). Alternatively, you can purchase HeatTrak's optional 10-inch thermostat extension cable (model HR-Therm3550), which plugs into your mat's power 120-volt unit from an electrical outlet and will automatically turn on your mats when the temperature drops below 35 degrees F. Another option is HeatTrak's thermostat and snow sensing controller (model DS-2B), which turns on your mats when the temperature is below 38 degrees F and it senses moisture (requires hardwired installation by a certified electrician; works with both 120- and 240-volt mats).
HeatTrak mats can be used on most surfaces, including concrete, asphalt, stone, and wood decks. However, decks made of plastic/composite material can act as an insulator, and use of HeatTrak mats can leave burn marking or staining. To avoid this, it's best to operate the mat during snow fall hours and not leave them on for extended periods of time, or place strips of plywood under the mats to allow the heat to be properly distributed.

By SeeWeed
We bought this item for our steep driveway, so that we can cut down on heavy shoveling during large snowstorms. It is enough to melt the snow to allow one side of your car tires to roll over and gain enough traction to get up the hill. The heat is barely noticeable. If you place a ball of snow on it it will not melt instantly but rather over 10-20 minutes. We keep this outdoors all winter and it is very sturdy. It is also very heavy to pull out from storage. If you are a petite person you will need another person to help you carry this out to the walk. For this winter we used it in front of our house to clear a walkway from the street to the front door. Melts snow perfectly and even dries a rim of concrete all around it. No more slipping on ice or slushing through snow!

By Jose E. Bezares
We bought this heat mat for a 20-foot ramp we have that is at a slope of about twice what is federally required if you need it for handicapped access--which, fortunately, we do not. Our ramp has a peculiar problem in that it is immediately below a gutter, which overflows and in the winter thaws, drips, ices, thaws, drips...then freezes directly on our ramp. This heat mat has solved our problem completely. It looks and feels like it's made of hard rubber with wavy grooves. We've only used it for the past couple of months, so we can't speak to long-term reliability and wear-and-tear. But for as long as we have had it, it is reliable and works well. The grip is good underfoot, the current is just enough to melt snow and ice but not too high, it's super easy to turn on and off, and we are very happy with it. The cord is about 6 feet (I think), If you have a nearby outdoor outlet you'll be set. If not, you might have to get an extension cord. If you do, try to make it only long enough to reach an outdoor outlet, but not much longer or you'll have to roll it up and keep it out of the way. Make sure you cover the outlet/plug and any connections with any extension cords. Judging by our experience, we would recommend this without reservation. By the way, the price from Amazon beat the price from Home Depot and everywhere else!

By Marsha Ward
I recently moved into a home that has a wooden wheelchair ramp up from the parking area to a covered deck. When an early freeze hit and I nearly fell due to the slippery ice that had formed on the ramp, I knew I needed something to keep it clear of snow and ice in the coming months.
An Internet search led me to the HeatTrak heated walkway mat. I bought a 24-inch wide, 10-foot long mat, and it was delivered a day before the first big snowstorm came. Perfect timing!
I love this product! I've had good results and a clear ramp since I put it in place. We've had several storms, and the only time I had ice or snow in my path was the one time I neglected to plug the HeatTrak in as the snow began to fall.
