Product Description
The PR291E30 2-stage snow thrower is equipped with standard speed drive and electric start engine; it is well-suited for homeowners who live in areas with moderate to heavy snow accumulation. Power steering and large, deep-tread tires allow for increased maneuverability and stability, and a 30-inch open width and 23-inch intake height allow for quick clearance on sidewalks and driveways. Convenient controls on the operator panel move the machine in forward and reverse, as well as rotate the discharge chute's positioning and pitch. Other features include skid pad, installed drift bar, and flood light. It also has option to install weight bar.

By PhAzEr DaZeR
After a lot of searching I decided to purchase this snowblower to replace a very old (but still very functional) single stage Toro.
I was a little worried about ordering online because of how it would possibly arrive.
It came in a crate in a box, delivered by a local carrier and they brought it right in my garage, very good and easy delivery.
This Poulan is very big- It easily takes just one pass to clear an entire sidewalk.
It has electric start which is a nice upgrade to the pull start I was previously using.
It has power steering so it is really easy to steer-
There is no straining when pushing it.
The tires are pretty big, but functional.
Really throws the snow great and you can adjust where the snow goes.
Makes a perfectly clear pathway, even in deep snow!
Easily gets through powder and the thick heavy snow!
Can do my entire driveway and walk in just a few minutes.
Also, since it gets darker earlier the flood light that is has really comes in handy!
This is a very nice snowblower for $1099 with free shipping its well worth it!

By Yama Reaper
Don't have much time for a thorough report tonight. Standby for a detailed review with pictures and a video. But for those interested in this blower today, this is a good 30" blower at a great price. It replaced a 25" 2-stage blower with tracks, and I haven't been disappointed. I'll add tons of amplified data soon.
UPDATE (21 DEC 2011):
Bottom Line Up Front: Great value. Works as advertised. If you don't get more than 6" of snow at a time, it may be more than you need.
SHIPPING
Ships via truck freight not UPS. Watch for an email from the trucking company. It will have a number to call so schedule the delivery. Mine shipped from the Phoenix area, so it was a little disappointing that it took 7 days to deliver.
Crate/Packaging: Very solid. See my pictures. Suffered zero damage in shipping.
ASSEMBLY
I took my time and it still took less than 1 hour (with interruptions). Much easier than assembling a doll house on Christmas Eve. As a technique, I put Blue Loctite (medium thread locker) on all nuts and bolts that I assembled.
ENGINE
LCT 10.0HP, CARB approved, so I was allowed to buy this one in the People's Republic of California. Previously I attempted to buy the 27" blower but they wouldn't ship it to my address because it wasn't CARB (California Air Research Board) approved. I live at an elevation of 6100' so the extra HP of the 291cc motor is welcomed.
The engine came with oil but I was unsure if it was motor oil or preservation oil. As a precaution I replaced it with standard 10W-30 motor oil (per the manual). The oil that drained out was a strange, very blue, color. I would recommend swapping it to something you're familiar with.
The engine has a 120V AC electric start that I've never used personally. With 2 to 4 squirts of the primer it starts on the first pull every time. For me that's less work than unwinding an extension cord. The only exception was the very first start. I gave it about 8 squirts not realizing that the priming bulb was working until I smelled gas. Being thoroughly flooded, it started on the second pull.
CONTROLS
The controls are readily apparent and functional. The speed lever is a little out of adjustment so all ratios are actually forward, except one. The chute has separate levers for direction and pitch. I've worked with single handle joystick types and I think I like the separate levers better. They feel a little sturdier. (This opinion may change over time.)
My biggest gripe with the controls is the width of the auger and drive control actuators. They are almost double the width of bar that they close on. This means that even with large hands, I have to hold a wide grip (see pic). A few years back I had surgery on my right thumb and I still have limited opposing thumb strength. The wide control causes me significant pain. I'll probably try to increase the cross-sectional bend in the lever to narrow it slightly. I'm taking one star off for this alone.
The power steering works by disengaging the driveline to one side at a time. With both drive-disengagement triggers pulled, the blower can be wheeled around freely like a two-wheel cart. This is nice for maneuvering in the garage with the engine off.
PERFORMANCE
I've only used the blower once in about 2 inches of snow. This was not enough snow for a blower of this size. I had to run at nearly full speed to adequately fill the auger so that it would throw the snow a good distance. The good news was that my 400' driveway was clear in no time. The blower tends to wheelie when the drive control is engaged (slight nuisance). The headlight is effective but is somewhat obstructed by the chute (common problem). I'll update the review after our first "real" snowfall (at least 12").

This is my first snow thrower and I am very happy with it. I bought this one after a lot of research and comparison. It is a good deal considering its size and power at current price. The assembly took about one hour though the manual could be better written. I have used it several times for 2 to 4 inches snow. It worked quite smoothly. The real test is storm Nemo. We have about 3 feet snow. This monster was able to clear 30 inch wide path by just one run at low forwarding speed. The building quality seems good. Let's see how many years it can last.
